  2. Acknowledgment. Once you have taken that deep breath, it’s not good to shove those feelings down and push them to the side. Rather you should acknowledge how you’re feeling. By acknowledging it, you’re Addressing the issue and allowing yourself to figure out ways to handle it.
  3. Think about the feeling. Dive deep into what exactly you’re feeling and why it is causing you to not be a calm individual. By dissecting it like this, you will be able to figure out ways to handle it.
  4. Take action. This may be as simple as addressing your needs or processing your feelings. But this can include doing something that makes you feel better or even getting out and doing a little exercise.

 

Exercises for Calming Down

When it comes to taking action, one of the things you can do is try out some exercises to calm down. There’s a wealth of different options, but here are a few that we suggest.

 

  • Take long, deep breaths and exhale them slowly.
  • Find something to focus on that is soothing, like watching clouds.
  • Get your mind off of the feelings by doing something you love to do.
  • Give yourself positive reinforcement by saying something nice.

 

How to Avoid Bottling Up Your Emotions

One thing is for sure bottling up your emotions will not help you become a calm and quiet person. But, unfortunately, it is a common thing for humans to do if we don’t want to always feel negative or do anything that could put us in an uncomfortable situation.

But bottling up your emotions is not a great idea. So to keep bottling up your emotions, one of the best ways to do this is to name them. Giving them names allows you to think about and acknowledge them, and that could potentially keep you from holding them in.

Another way to handle this is to talk to someone with that, be it a friend or a therapist. Journaling is another great option.

You can also get out and get a little physical activity, or simply pinpointing where the emotion comes from can keep you from bottling those motions up and having them build until you explode.

Another way to become a calm and quiet individual is to work on building your emotional intelligence. In other words, creating emotional growth can help you find the path to reduce stress and anxiety and the ability to handle your emotions.

There are a few areas that need to be focused for those areas:

  • motivation
  • empathy
  • self-regulation
  • values

 

To address these areas, you need to figure out ways to acknowledge your feelings and name them and call yourself out when you are being unrealistic.

On top of that, finding ways to channel your emotions and motivate yourself can be key to helping develop your emotional intelligence.

Empathy, though, is also important because you have to be able to put yourself in the other person’s shoes to remain calm and quiet in difficult situations.

 

Can You Train Yourself to Be Quiet?

With consistency in focusing on trying quite individually, you can train yourself to do the things necessary to achieve that. Our brains are magical organs that, with consistency, can create habits.
